A student’s academic performance is determined at the end of each semester by computing an average of the grades she/he has received during that semester.
The number of quality points for a class is the number of credits the class is worth times the number of quality points associated with the grade you receive in the class.
As an example, if the following grades were received by a student in a semester:
Unit |

To arrive at the semesterÌýgrade point averageÌý(GPA), the product (credit hours x quality points) are added and then divided by the number of credits taken.
For the above example:
GPA = (Total product for a semester) / (Total Credit Hours for a semester)
GPA = (75 + 58.25 + 91.75 + 0) / (25 + 25 + 25 + 25) = 2.25
CGPA = (Total product for all the semesters) / (Total number of credit hours taken)
TheÌýcumulative grade point averageÌý(CGPA)Ìý– an average of grades from two or more semesters – equals the sum of the products of all the grades at ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog University, Malaysia divided by the total number of credits hours taken.
Calculation of Grade Point Average (GPA) includes:
- Marks for any grade/mark (including units that are failed)
- Marks (if any) for any unit with a result of F-IN (Fail- Incomplete / Insufficient Assessment); and
- Zero marks (0) for any grade/ mark unit with a result of ANN (Result Annulled due to Academic Misconduct)
Calculation ofÌýCumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) includes:
- Marks for any grade/mark unit credited towards the course as Automatic Credit or Designated Credit;
- Marks for any grade/mark unit (including units that are Failed);
- Marks (if any) for any unit with a result of F-IN (Fail- Incomplete / Insufficient Assessment);
- Zero marks (0) for any grade/ mark unit with a result of ANN (Result Annulled due to Academic Misconduct)
